It’s a destination that brings transparency to YOU, the consumer, and assists you throughout the process of searching for a new home. Whether you’re working with a real estate agent or searching on your own, we’ll be here to supply the resources to help you along.
WTLN was established to be ‘THE’ place to go for honest and helpful information when looking for your next home. We welcome both positive and constructive feedback and look forward to educating you.

The Founder
Marc Alter is an entrepreneur, licensed real estate agent and NYC resident of 9 years and counting. He is part of a small team who manages a 150+ agent full-service real estate brokerage firm called Level Group.
More info on Marc:
- Grew up on Long Island, NY and currently resides in the Midtown East neighborhood of Manhattan
- Worked in finance for three years after graduating college in 2004 from the University of Pennsylvania
- Started several web-based businesses prior to WTLN, including FreshMalt
- Co-founded the non-profit Urban Enrichment and mentored at Minds Matter & StreetWise Partners
- Lived in 20+ apartments and spent a total of $1,100 on rent during the course of a 17-month stretch
- Developed extensive knowledge about NYC neighborhoods, restaurants/bars and points of interest
- Became a real estate agent due to a frustration with the process of finding a home in New York City
Marc created Where To Live Next as a result of an appreciation for NYC real estate and a desire to educate consumers. He has been on both sides of a transaction, as a client and as a broker, and believes that the process can be considerably improved. WTLN and its affiliated websites will be the foundation to facilitate such a positive change in the NYC residential real estate market.
